Ahmet Sesigurgil | Director of Photography
Already an established cinematographer in his native Ankara, Ahmet moved from Turkey to the United States to study and continue to develop his craft. Upon completion of his thesis project and graduation from the New York Film Academy, Ahmet stayed on to teach there for two years while he continued to amass credits, both in America and internationally, including some early projects as a director (and even actor) in his own right.
Ahmet’s focus since then continues to emphasis his considerable talent as a much in-demand cinematographer with camera work over almost two decades approaching one hundred productions spanning virtually all aspects of visual media from feature films, television, web and music video, to commercial advertising campaigns including Pepsicola and Renault.
And Then I Woke Up | Collaborations with Chris Aran
Ahmet and Chris have worked together on many of these projects since their first meeting in 2005, and Ahmet was instrumental in bringing Chris to film in Turkey for the first time for the feature film, Kelbek. The two also worked together on the previous Chris Aran film, One Day in January
Ahmet’s work on And Then I Woke Up reflected his mutual interest with Chris in the visual side of filmmaking with particular attention when working with colorist Gulliermo Tuñon, on the contrasting color palettes that saturate and de-saturate as the movie progresses though its various time periods and locations.
